Ah, cell phones…

September 29th, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

I just opened up my web browser and found a blurb on Yahoo! News that I had to follow. It took me to TMZ, that most wonderful of gossip sites, and showed Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig running a scene in a preview production of the upcoming play A Steady Rain.

As fate would have it, right in the middle of the most intense moment of the play some dude’s cell phone goes off. As if it isn’t bad enough that the dipshit ignored the house admonitions to turn off electronic devices, the person is too afraid to answer the damn thing or shut it off, so he/she ignores it. And it rings and rings and rings. But, as if that weren’t enough, after it stops the first time (yeah, that’s right) the thing goes off a second time, and the phone rings again and again and again–despite the encouragement of Jackman and Craig to answer the damn thing or turn it off.

It never ceases to amaze me how self-centered some people can be. I commented on an event that was very like this when I went to Karamu House to see A House with No Walls, some girl was sitting up and to the left of the stage and did the same thing, just let it ring and ring. I was almost to the point of standing up and yelling at her; something that did happen with Lawrence Fishburne a while back; as I note in my post.
