Open Mind Firmament: An Evening of W. B. Yeats

So, I took the easy way out on this one and recorded it: so there’s an mp3 and not a bunch of typing, but I wanted to talk about one of the shows just wrapping up at CPT.

While I talk I mention a few things, including the way in which Yeats reads his poetry. I found a clip on YouTube that comes from the same source as the record that I copied many years ago, so it will suffice to get the point across.

On a completely ridiculous note, you can see a Yeats poem “read” by a dog.

Went and saw a staged reading of Parson’s piece at the Factory Theatre last Wednesday evening before heading out to Portland, OR.

I was very impressed. Mike shifted gears pretty frequently and kept me on my toes throughout a very ambitious two act piece. I’ll likely discuss it at greater length in another entry.

Suffice it to say, it was an highly original approach to a story that many people think they know.

Parsons is a director, theater connoisseur and highly ambitious playwright in residence at Theatre Daedalus in Columbus, OH (and the NEOMFA program).
